1900's - Plume Delivery
When I first moved to Chicago (Jan 06), I went to Schuba's to see a band, I think it was The M's or that overly hyped and really not that good band Spinto Band (I will give them one song, but horrible for the rest of the night). Anyway, it was either one of those bands where I saw a young Chicago group called 1900's. I turned to my friend and co-worker after all the bands and said "The 1900's were the band of the night. Hands down" It was like what I imagined watching an early Mama's and The Papa's show would be like. Their EP "Plume Delivery" was recently released on Parasol Records and if your a fan of that semi-psychedelic POP sound of the early California 60's pop ala Mamas and Papas or Sonny and Cher , the 1900's are really for you. There must of been a reference in their bio to the Velvet Underground as it appears in a number of reviews of this ep. Which in my opinion, I really don't hear and seems some mainstream journalists are pretty lazy throwing that out there. Like Tilly and The Wall, the 1900's are creating a scene and sound like Neko Case using an amazing era of 60's pop that has been hard to come by as of late, a sound I've always enjoyed. The 1900's are a group which can develop into something magical like Galaxie 500 did back in the 80's, so if you have the patience to watch them develop, I think you will be pleasantly surprised in the outcome.

Oh a quick edit, for my NYC friends the band is coming worth checking out:
June 20th - Mercury Lounge
June 21st - Fontana's (I think that is by my old place on Ludlow)
June 22nd - Arlene's Grocery
Report back
They sound good. That and the fact that they have two hot red heads in the band makes me want to see them!
